When I got to work for a few hours this morning (banking some overtime before the costly +mass sales), Blender was installed on half our stations... a bit puzzled I went to the rumorhub coffee maker for a cigarette and got the news that we're to drop most of our Autodesk subscriptions. Revolution at work!
" Once a society reaches a high level of opulence, resources get diverted to increasing amounts of unproductive labor, leading to decline." - Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith - Father of modern economics.
I find this quote, and concept, extremely interesting! As a reference: Unproductive labor is anything that does not produce a resource, or promote economical growth, within a country or society. The major contributor to this category is anything related to entertainment or media. These labors are paid by the productive labor. As in, you couldn't run a country by having only entertainers, while you could run a country by only having farmers.
