The Dark Creations community is run for the usage and benefit of its members. In our interest to keep the activities legal and to maintain a comfortable atmosphere, the following rules are to be adhered to by all users of the site. Unless otherwise mentioned, these rules apply invariably throughout the entirety of the DC community, in all forums, public or private.
1. Defamatory, Offensive, Abusive or Belligerent Behaviour
This includes but is not limited to hate speech (racism, sexism, homophobia etc), harassment and overtly antagonistic behaviour and language use. Overt displays of hatred towards any person or persons, regardless of whether they are a member of DC, are forbidden.
Disputes, conflicts or disagreements between members must be worked out in a civil fashion if they are to take place in a forum. Belligerence or petulance will be seen as a potentially volatile thread and as such a member of the DC team will ask that you resume the conversation in PM.
Please note that derailing a thread about a specific purpose to talk about such a dispute or conflict should be avoided. If necessary, a member of the DC admin team will step in and ask that the discussion be resumed in PM.
2. "Trolling", "Flaming", "Flame-Baiting" etc
Intentionally annoying, attacking or baiting other members on the DC community is not allowed. Exceptions can be made in cases when a negative outcome is deemed accidental, provided that the member's actions can be held in good faith. Please note that any subsequent incidents will be treated as deliberate.
3. Illegal Activities
Any promoting of (including disclosure of partaking in) illegal activities such as software piracy, scams, pyramid schemes, illegal pornography (such as child pornography, smut films and rape videos), phishing or spreading malware and/or viruses is strictly forbidden, as is providing links to sites that take part in any illegal activity of any kind. If an unintentional first offence occurs, only a warning will be issued, after which any further offence will be treated as deliberate.
4. Inappropriate Imagery & Adult Content
Posting sexually explicit images or pictures depicting gruesome or revolting imagery is prohibited.
Any content that would typically be awarded a 15+ certificate or higher in the US/UK film and video game industry must be clearly labelled as being "Adult Only" when uploading files and images, and topics that discuss or contain similar content must be marked the same or "Not Safe for Work" [NSFW].
Spam, including the use of automated posting methods such as bots, or repeated promotion of your personal website without administrative approval, is not allowed.
6. Publishing Private Information
You are not allowed to publish any private information belonging to another member of the community without their expressed consent. Posting private information of any person or persons, regardless of whether they are a member of the DC community, onto the forums with clear acrimonious intent is strongly prohibited.
You are not allowed to post libellous claims against any person or persons, regardless of whether they are a member of DC. The usage of Dark Creations for the purposes of journalism, campaigning or arguing for/against a cause requires the expressed written consent of all system administrators on behalf the DC admin team.
8. Foul Language
The use of profanity, as well as cultural, religious, national or racial expletives employed in a derogatory fashion, is not allowed in status updates, topic titles, member titles or member aliases (forum names). Please try to refrain from using foul language throughout the forums. It is not actively enforced (except for in the case of a particularly excessive circumstance) but we would like DC to maintain a high level of civility among its user interactions.
9. Special Circumstances
The DC admin team reserves the right to judge any material posted to the site that does not clearly fall within any of the rules and limitations laid out above as inappropriate and act accordingly in the case of said material being deemed offensive, crude or otherwise outside the realm of general decency.
10. Future Revisions of Forum Rules
The DC admin team reserves the right to change any and all of these forum rules without prior notice. We will post in this thread to announce any changes and/or updates and if any significant alteration becomes necessary, we will do our best to provide a grace period before the new rules take effect.
Consequences of Breaking These Rules
Whilst all cases will be judged independently, most will be dealt with according to the following list, numbered according to the amount of infractions. Your material may be edited or removed completely in all instances. Please note that none of these sanctions affect your membership status of any of our hosted projects.
This list is a guideline and should be treated as such.
- Warning via PM and/or in-thread.
- Second warning via PM and/or in-thread. A particularly strong infraction will be treated as a third offence.
- 1 week suspension from posting on the forums.
- Depending on severity, you will be suspended from posting for no less than 1 month.
- Permanent site-wide ban. Your IP will be blocked from reaching darkcreations.org.
Criminal offences taking place on DC will be treated no different than if they occurred in person.
Moderator Actions & Project Membership
As touched upon above, please note that the DC admin team is not involved in whether a user's actions will affect their membership of a hosted project. Any failures of adherence to the forum rules are treated as infractions against the community and not against any of the hosted projects. It is the sole responsibility of the project leadership to decide what does and doesn't affect the membership status of one of their members.
