New Systems, Questlines, Concepts, etc

Recommended Posts

I've noticed a lot of big idea threads for questlines, gameplay concepts, even a lot of concept art. I don't want to discourage that - discussion is always interesting and sharing concepts is encouraged. However, I want to make it clear to anyone looking to contribute in this way that there is no guarantee that we will use unsolicited work. We will try to consider it, but please understand if we don't.

The only people authorized to solicit or authorize work for Cyrodiil are myself, Wellpapp, Bellatrix (Interiors), Lasur Arkinshade (Writing), Markus Liberty (Arts/Modeling), Xae (Music), Luffi45 (Dungeons) and NafNaf95 (Exterior landscaping). They should only be soliciting from active members of Cyrodiil or people who are in the process of becoming active members.

Likewise, anyone noted above as a department head can only solicit for their respective departments unless noted. Usually, they would need to clear it with the department head or one of the project leaders before posting if it's for a claim that falls in another department. For example, Markus won't be requesting ideas for an Epic Ogre Adventure without clearing it with Lasur, me or Wellpapp.

For big gameplay stuff - PM me and copy Wellpapp. We aren't considering a lot of major gameplay additions or changes, but we are always open to discuss ideas.

I've notice a lot of non-members posting concept art and being encouraged by members who aren't leads. A lot of it is high quality work, sure, but all the more reason to keep the above in mind.

Being a member of the project working on approved work affords contributors the protections of the Beyond Skyrim Charter. It also greatly increases the chance that their work will actually be used. Unsolicited work is more likely to be either a duplication of something we already have in progress or something that is unneeded.

EDIT: To be clear - this isn't a call for non-members to stop contributing. It is a reminder that there are proper channels that they need to go through. Members, too.

I thought people knew that as common knowledge, you post something does not mean it must be added, but if it do it is what it is and you might even be mentioned in credits/whatever

Is the thread for annoying 12 year old kids who managed to find this and keep spamming with silly suggestions?

Don't know if anyone is still on this thread, but I have a question concerning the versions of Skyrim that the Beyond series will come out for, specifically fwhether it will come out for Skyrim Legendary edition for all of the different provinces or only SSE.

I recall in a Brodual video, and some of the threads on the forums that Beyond Skyrim: Bruma will be the only one released for old Skyrim, and the rest of the project will be released on SSE. I believe this is done because of limitations from the engine on the original Skyrim? Correct me if I'm wrong.

That is correct, as explained in this thread https://www.darkcreations.org/forums/topic/11703-oldrim/ the team seems to have opted for continuing development solely on SSE. My understanding is that they have opted for the SSE version due to memory and performance issues with the Legendary Edition in addition to the fact that it would take quite a lot of extra work to continue development for both games, thus taking up manpower that could be used better elsewhere.

I’ve got one, it’s both for the Idea that there is a unique ability for the dragonborn in Cyrodiil, and it’s an Easter egg for The Fellowship of the Ring and The Mummy movie from which the questline is based off of:

During the main questline in mainland Cyrodiil, not counting what was already done in Bruma, the location of the  Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (most likely the second true Dragonborn)  is found. You have to escort a group of Synod Researchers to “catalogue” the tomb, but the expedition already runs into problems.

First, the door to the tomb is only revealed at night; Second, the inscription on the door is in an ancient dialect of Cyrodiil language; Third, this is what’s translated from the doors: The Thu’um is the Word and the Word is Power. With Unrelenting Force shall the way open before you.

In order to access the tomb, you have to use the Unrelenting Force Shout to open the doors.

Part II: During your quest in the tomb, you discover a monolith that contains a list of all the Dragonborn since the mythic age and their deeds. What is most surprising (to those accompanying you anyway) is that, where St. Alessia’s name should be (to their knowledge) there is the name Miraak. Another thing that was surprising was that it was seemingly untouched by the Middle Dawn event, but records Dragonborn that nobody ever knew existed, or knew was Dragonborn. One such name seemed to be the one that enabled Cyrodiil to “reach into the stars” and his reign lasted “1000 years”.

The most surprising thing recorded on it was Tiber Septim’s fate, which shows beyond doubt that he has become part of the oversoul of Lorkhan. Misinterpretation reveals that this is irrefutable proof that Talos is a god. Because of that, the Thalmor view the monolith as a threat to their power.

Part III: When you make your way to the final room, you get to claim either a sword, a staff, or a bow (your choice), each with a unique ability tied to the Dragonborn, but also powerless due to the passage of years, and seemingly immune to being charged by soul gems. As a kind of consolation, you bring back a rubbing of the Dragonborn Monolith.

On reading it, the Thalmor set out to destroy it, which you set out to try to prevent. The problem is that when the Thalmor ultimately succeed, the Star Emperor (again with ties to Tomb ofthe Dragon Emperor) is released from his imprisonment and moves to claim what is rightfully his, according to the middle dawn.

To stop him and is army of magical constructs (half terra cotta soldiers from TotDE, half magical anomaly from the College of Winterhold questline) you have to raise an army of dead Blades agents (the dead men of Dunharrow) to keep them occupied while you deal with the Star Emperor. Halfway through your battle with him, the weapon you claimed before suddenly regains power to destroy him.
