  1. Folken - Writing / Oddjobs

Nickname: Folken Skills: Varied, but I am most interested in writing. However I'm willing to help in any way, in exchange for the experience of building a game. Interests: Story & lore crafting. Character backstories. The slow and painful unraveling of deeply troubling and depressing events that are now the player's problem. Ideas: Many. Plagues. War. Natural disasters. Baseless racial hatreds. Unrequited love. The bulls-eye is the players heart, the writer is the longbow and the quiver is full of painful personal and historical examples. Begin TLDNR phase: Writing examples: Short Story: A fantasy short story I wrote about a soldier with horrid ptsd trying to socialize. I've written a few about her... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lalKCV8RxwpbdeyBrIlzeOfQ5sJhHDUzrqtHU6H0nes/edit?usp=sharing World Crafting: I created a tabletop (rolemaster) setting where everyone's dead for 700 years and the players don't initially know why: I ran this game for 5 years irl. I created the world, the location, the civilization, what killed it, and the other things that moved in after they were gone, then I shipwrecked a group of players there with nothing. I made campaign blog posts to keep track of it and I have a separate site with every detail/backstory/timeline I wrote for the world to keep it straight in my head, like an even dorkier version of wikipedia. I wrote far more content for the world than the players ever found or knew about to keep it rich and always have a quick answer when they wanted to dig deeper. This is the final post of the campaign and it will make no sense by itself but does illustrate my willingness to commit large chunks of my life to creating lies for the amusement of others. https://sites.google.com/site/wildermaster/project-updates/20130923transferofpower Planet Crafting using someone else's rules: Blog-documenting the creating of planets in a sci-fi tabletop campaign I'm running from scratch, but using an existing game (Starfinder) for rules/mechanics/classes. https://www.tumblr.com/blog/starloserrpg Writing organization: I openly admit that I made a spreadsheet to manage a timeline of my two pathfinder (d&d) campaigns happening in the same country at the same time with two groups of characters (one chaotic good, one lawful evil) played by one group of players. These are Paizo (pathfinder) Adventure Paths that I modified to fit into one big complicated story. It confuses me a little just attempting to describe what I've done to myself here, hence the spreadsheet... ^ this wouldn't paste only as a link, I tried! Short Story in the above-campaign-world: A dream-sequence I wrote from the perspective of a players character who was receiving the dream-message from a potentially friendly NPC who had been turned to stone. https://hellspathfinder.tumblr.com/post/163416485778/night-visions Also from the above campaigns: Blog Documenting player choices & events so none of us forget what we did each week. https://hellspathfinder.tumblr.com/post/170740696018/gangs-of-kintargo A particularly RP heavy example of this, an NPC funeral: https://hellspathfinder.tumblr.com/post/170800439778/catalyst Strangers from tumblr read these more than my players do Here I am fan-fictioning a game that probably doesn't deserve it: The Division had it's moments. I made a journal from the perspective of my character as I worked through what plot there is to find in that game. https://www.tumblr.com/blog/agentjournal Whoa, TLDNR bail now. The rest is significantly less relevant. The Odd Jobs: Voice Acting: Here's a commercial we made for our album (I am in a few bands but I have never handed anyone a mixtape, don't worry) https://fanburst.com/tobiasmerriman/jenny-johnson-band-april-30th-commercial Here's the outtakes (explicit) if you wonder what evening-coffee does to a human. https://fanburst.com/tobiasmerriman/the-alternate-commericial_1 Also I'm a couple characters in this radio drama my bandmate wrote https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/camp-giant-city/id1074359940?mt=2 Foley work, experimenting for my own education. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dR2-W17Ksw Video editing: I can do a few things in FCP because I've had to learn it in order to help troubleshoot it at work, also I love Jason Isbell so I made this for/at him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eiB6NlGm70 I can change a tire. Wow, what a trooper. Thanks for your consideration!
  2. Recruitment - CsubiLev

Hi Beyond Skyrim: Atmora team! My name is Lenete Kircsi, I live in Hungary, I'm 19 years old and I study mechanical engineering in secondary school. I'm a big fan of The Elder Scrolls and one of my favorite topics is the Mythic Era history and origin of men, that is why i would like to work in the team which creates Atmora, the Elder Wood, where all the races of men (except redguards) originate from. I would like to provide you with ideas, inspiration and advice on lore topics. Nickname: CsubiLev Skills: Concept Art, some knowledge of Nordic runic writing and Dovahzul Interests: Ruins, Architecture, Culture, Wildlife, (Dawn and Mythic Era) Lore, Dovahzul Ideas: Underground caverns inside rock and ice where temperate climate creatures, maybe even sentient creatures (giants or atmorans) can live, similarly to the wildlife of Frostmere Depths, Eldergleam sanctuary, and Ancestor Glade . The existence of native atmoran tribes who live similar lifestyles to the Skaal or the Eskimo and feed themselves of hunting, fishing and maybe whaling. Waiting for your reply, Yours sincerely, CsubiLev. (I will just leave my discord tag here: #2372, header it might be needed.)
  3. Videos of Atmora

  4. Hello, my name is Zac and I'm a massive fan of the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim in particular! I've been playing the game since it's release in 2011, and have created various different characters to replay the story several different times until the point where I now recognise the majority of the dialogue from NPCs within the main game engine. I have been following the Beyond Skyrim project for a couple of years now, and was inexpressibly impressed by the final result of Bruma. I've recently decided that I would love to be a part of the project under the title of writing dialogue for the NPCs the player would encounter within the mod project. I have worked on dialogue for a few smaller and non-game projects in the past two years for my other hobbies and interests, and after dedicating a large portion of my life to The Elder Scrolls, I believe that I'm fit for role! Hope you get back to me soon! Many Thanks, Zac

  6. Atmoran Banners 2.0

Hello! we have recently expanded our content (story, regions ect), and now we need to expand our clutter resources a bit. There is a list of planned content, can be handed out on request, (if you want to work with me) and i also was planning to work on that together with a few other people, especially goretexx who will do similar banners in different style and age for Roscrea. Like the scrolls, i am very happy we can actually team up and portray the historical link between Atmora and Roscrea. Please write me a message if you are interested in sharing your thoughts on that project! thank you, have fun

  8. Ari0n Application

Hello, this is just a template to give you an example of the new recruitment handling that BS is planning. Each candiate will make a new thread, and this is the thread of Sagnax. thank you! Ari0n: Hello! I would be honored to join you team. I love Skyrim and I find this project in gneral absolutely brillant. I already have some experience with the creation kit ( I designed a couple of houses for my own character a while ago) and I would love to help you as an interior designer. As for a little information about myself: I'm an 18 year old student (finals at the end of June) and I'm going to have a lot of spare time during the summer and probably for the next year (2018) as well. I'm fluent in English and German so there shouldn't be any problems with communications. I also work well in teams. I hope to be working with you soon. ~Ari0n heya, welcome! We will have to dig a bit, to still find a place for a new interior ;-) but you will get your chance! I will talk with the creative director anathem7x about claim options for you. We have currently over fifty far advanced interiors, so ofc we need to find a fresh concept first. I will contact you today and present you at least 2 valid options! greetings Hannes

  11. Atmoran Monoliths

Well, at first work i decided to make some monoliths, big, medium and small ones with blue of some art from bronze age and traditional carving. And i tried to make the carvings (except from the 2° of the second photo) to retrate war, mythology, a lot of ships for the Companions and Runic inscripts (the best i could understand) related to the Gods. What do you guys think?
  12. Bear Cult Idea Thread

this is just a few picked-up thoughts from the old forum, to give you the opportunity to brainstorm with us: we have a general concept of warrior monks who are about testing and contesting young warriors when they are old enough to serve in a shieldwall. They would be their trainers, priests and advisors from first training until death in battle or at their home; only one monk per group of people (village or warband or ship), traveling with them. now you see a few ideas i copy pasted from the old forum here: something about the right path. Being alone in a cold cave with wild animals and then having the choice between 2 or 3 paths, that lead to different styles of weapons and equipment, forged by stahlrim for this quest, and then a quest where they have to use their chosen skills to protect some clansman attacked by others.Like with "paintball" they used magical projectiles and summoned blades, so they would "mark" the hits but not kill, because the victims and attackers are both elder monks in carmourflage ;-) Seclude themselves in a dark cave with no food for a month, just like Hannes said, for meditation and "cleansing" of body and mind.Find a sacred source of water, get naked and immerse themselves in it.Go outside, locate a unique ice wraith that is born only once every year and kill it bare handed(so that only one worthy monk per year can effectively mature). The ultimate purpose would be to "find their path" in martial arts and morals. That is the two values the Bear cult would be related to. maybe not battle an ice wrath, maybe not killing, i tend to see them as less aggressive then the stormcloaks, more about their internal, metal strength and testimony. so they (the young warriors) get gathered by traveling bear monks in the spring, when the first flowers blossom, and then travel up the mountains. There, in a main hall of the "bear cave", they will get basic training and teachings and cleanings, and a schedule for their daily life as preparation. after a month, theywillbe send in the "cave of tests". i could imagine that they have to walk through a labyrinth, talk with an oracle, and when the oracle tells them the way to go, because they did sacrifices to it, and finally developed a deeper understanding necessary to hear it, they will be shown the path out, to a place with an ancient tree, on a marshland on a highland plateau. there, a bear monk priest will bind them to the oak tree for 9 days and nights, feed them with ritualic herbal medicine and potions, and carve symbols in their bodies and paint their faces dance there around with ritualic drums, while the young bound one fades away, receiving visions from the gods, as animals who go hunting and travel the wholeofnirn. by this process (if he/she survives) they will get a deeper mystical insight in a particular aspect of their gods, thosethatreveiled themselfes to them; and after that, they will be taken care of byamedicin monk, who will bring them a week in a resting cave, before they will be send back to the main cave, where they will then do basic battle training and get sorted to hunting teams. Once they have these hunting teams, they will be sent out tohuntdeers, elks, boars and maybe mammoths as tests. finally, there will be a big feast, 3 days and nights of drinking and eating (mead and meat) and they will receive a talisman from the bear cult, maybeanamulett with 3 bears teeth, and then they will be send back to their home village. In war times, they will then be called to their local hunting group, which also works as "reservistswarband". thats how the bear cult has both very deep spiritual links and also its unique character as "inner test" for the applicants and younglings. At the sametime, its a central element of Atmoran society.
  13. Status Quo

Hello! since most work & work related communication is done in SLACK and Google Docs, it is not visible to you here, but i would like to let you know, the next merge is scheduled for the next 3-5 weeks, so there is constant progress inside the files. We will then merge quest- exterior- and magic-related esps and some encounters. If you have any questions, please ask, and feel free to join the Slack and get active ! ;-) enjoy
  14. Hello! This place is for talking about some lore ideas that are not official Bethesda lore but seem fitting well. ) what do you think about the nordic name of a Thrall (Slaves), and what about the Godi (jarls /kins druid) both are real world names, and like the term "Shieldbrother" and "Jarl" could be used in the same analogy inside the plot of Skyrim Mods. Thoughts? https://image.slidesharecdn.com/qgb1daerv6box2yikc18-signature-0f6837fb0f6caff06ee73ca91cd012788537db924fe449abcb2a7add4ea56262-poli-140729182512-phpapp02/95/viking-social-structure-2-638.jpg?cb=1406658344 http://www.hurstwic.org/history/articles/society/text/social_classes.htm

  17. Worldmap Emblem for BS Homepage

Hello people! we would like to make a fitting emblem for the worldmap, thus we think about creating a new logo with the typical silver-metallic 3d - font and a symbol. it should be 1) simple 2) self-explanatory 3) fitting to those other team emblems. i will soon post an idea about that here. What do you think?
  18. this is already a few weeks old, but what do you think of this in general? Ideas and suggestions welcome!
  19. this is a post by one of our members on the old forum. What do you think about it in general (most details are still missing ofc) .......................................................................................................... Creature concepts: Tusse, Ancient Troll and Huldra I discussed this with Anathem earlier, about how the trolls in Skyrim look nothing like actual trolls from Norse mythology and how I think it would be cool if we added some more authentic trolls in Atmora. This way, similarly to the giants, the trolls in Atmora could be sort of like the ancient and more pure trolls, while the trolls in Skyrim are their degenerate descendants, which is why they're so stupid and weird-looking. In Norse mythology and Nordic folklore, trolls are a very varied race of nature spirits. They can be ugly or beautiful, small or big, kind or cruel, stupid or wise, but there are some very specific distinguishing features they all have: 1. They're always found in nature and shun cities like the plague 2. They hate Christianity (not really relevant to Skyrim, but whatever) 3. They always have big ears and big noses 4. They often have cow tails and pointy ears 5. They usually have plants growing on them (some trolls get so big that they have trees growing on them) Male trolls in Nordic folklore almost always have beards, while the female troll hags are skilled potionmakers and know all sorts of dark and ancient magic. While trolls are often portrayed as stupid, it's also a fairly common trope for them to be wise riddle-makers who will eat you if you answer their riddle wrong. Danish trolls are typically fairly small, around the size of a human or smaller, and they're very mischievous and will steal and pull pranks on people. Swedish trolls are often wise and shamanistic, and they usually have very long hair and wear a lot of jewelry. Norwegian trolls are the most dangerous ones, they love eating humans, and will usually be so big that they have trees growing on them, so big that humans often mistake them for mountains. Trolls are also known to be nocturnal creatures that turn to stone or explode when exposed to sunlight. In Scandinavia, magic is very much associated with trolls. In fact, the Scandinavian word for magic is "trolldom", and all trolls know some form of magic, though the female trolls are the most skilled at it, especially at brewing potions. Trolls will often trade their magic to humans, though this can be very dangerous for the humans as trolls aren't very trustworthy. All Nordic mythical creatures are nature spirits, and trolls are the most prolific of them, and they represent the dangerous and mysterious in nature. [img alt="" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5d/Nej,_sicken_liten_puttefnasker!_Ropade_trollet.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"] [img style="max-width:100%;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--q2Hube1Vqc/TvrttjCiNmI/AAAAAAAACa4/30mhK5Y2XQA/s1600/Troll_Theodor_Kittelsen_-_Skogtroll%2C_1906_%28Forest_Troll%29.jpg"] [img alt="" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c7/John_Bauer_1915.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"] [img style="max-width:100%;" src="https://uploads0.wikiart.org/images/theodor-severin-kittelsen/forest-troll-skogtrold.jpg" alt=""] [img src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a1/5f/f0/a15ff0d1fdaa45311195f1275cb9b5c3.jpg" alt="" style="max-width:100%;"] A Tusse (or Thuss in Old Norse) is a creature from Norse mythology and Norwegian-Swedish folklore that is often called the subterraneans or the invisibles. They're kind of a bit like Falmer, so if we're adding them I think the Falmer animations would fit them very well. Anyways, a Tusse is said to be smaller than a human, but that's really the only consistent description of their looks. They're able to turn themselves invisible or transform into plants and rocks, so they blend in perfectly with nature. They live in an underground kingdom where they mine for jewels and gold, and their underground castles are often said to have walls covered in gold and gemstones. Because they're invisible, not much is known about their appearance, but they're often said to wear green clothes, and they are described as similar to Huldrefolk and similar to Nisser, so I decided to give them the tails of the Huldrefolk and the pointy hats of the Nisser. It's unknown wether Tusser are technically in the troll family or if they're more closely related to Elves, though they're more often portrayed as being in the troll family. Tusser only leave their caves at night, and they hate humans and can be very dangerous. They protect nature fiercely, and get very angry when humans disrespect it by chopping down trees and so on. I'm thinking if Tusser are added to the mod, they could cast invisibility on themselves whenever they detect an enemy, and their caves would have a lot of gold and jewels, so that even though these caves would be very dangerous, there would still be a reason to visit them. They're a bit like sirens in that they lure people in with their beauty. They could probably use Spriggan animation. The female Huldra and male Huldrekall are closely related to trolls, and they have the cow tail just like most trolls do. However, the Huldra and Huldrekall look like very beautiful humans with long flowing hair, a cow tail, and a hollow back that looks like a rotting tree. They like to lure humans away into the mountains and deep caves where the Huldrefolk live, and these humans are usually never seen again. If they do eventually manage to get away, they will have no memory of what happened, and will always be cursed with the temptation of returning to the Huldrefolk. Members of the Huldrefolk have incredible strength, being able to bend a horse shoe with their bare hands, lift an entire tree on their own, and they're completely immune to fire, but they're weak against steel. Just like Trolls, Huldrefolk know a lot of magic, and they fiercely protect nature. Huldrefolk are generally malevolent and hostile, but they can be very charming, and they reward politeness and kindness. The worst thing you can do is to insult a Huldra. One Norwegian fairytale tells of a man who was getting married to a Huldra, and since Huldra are both beautiful, strong and know magic, he was very proud of it and was boasting about it to everyone, humiliating her. The Huldra was so angry at him that she used her tail to beat his ears so badly that he became deaf. An example of a Huldra thanking someone is one where a man was fishing at a lake, but he had no luck. A beautiful woman came by and started flirting with him, but he noticed that there was a tail hanging out of her skirt, and became frightened. He politely told her "Excuse me miss, but your petticoat is showing", and she thanked him and hid her tail better. After his encounter with her, he caught so much fish he could barely even carry it all home. Here are my concepts for the Huldrefolk and Tussefolk anyways: Huldrefolk: [attachment id="162" thumbnail="1"] Tussefolk: [attachment id="163" thumbnail="1"] Now, these are just suggestions. You guys can do with these concepts whatever you want.
  20. Scrolls Retexture Concept

Last week i made a retexture for the scrolls, using 1024x1024 instead 256x256, also putting a new parchment layer and rusty iron layer underneath; and changing coloration and saturation a bit. Actually, its only an early concept, i still would like to add a variety of damage and water signs and paintings and other symbols.... i just wanted to ask you for your first impression. And, yes that is the "Elder Futhark font" ... i realize the round wooden part in the middle looks in vanilla nearly the same like the parchment, i will definitely also change that.
  21. References and Sources

I collected a few lore sources, http://expedition-to-atmora.wikia.com/wiki/Atmora_Lore_Sources (those contain the sources from the wiki-pages and most of the sources from lore thread in our old forum) If you find other "Atmora"-references, it would be nice if you share them with us here! Thank you!
  22. Since we decided to add new content and expand the main quest, we also have new characters; but those already have a background, just some checking and small additions would be nice. We have a google doc with the actors and one with the concepts for possible encounters. We will bring the brainstorming for these additions to here later.
  23. We currently have the following projects for encounters under development: 1) Atmoran Undead Race by MenghisKhan http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/198/atmorans-undead-skinned-frozen-nords also notes by Menghiskhan, Anathem and SagittariusMoon under the Grahl http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/573/custom-creatures-wip?page=2 2) Implementing the Giants Re source by Spikedragonlord (only needs race menu + ck) http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/196/giants-atmora?page=2 3) A more unique Frost Dragon, still open http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/70/dragon-bellyaches-meshes-textures-planned 4) Unique Undead bosses (Midaar is claimed, others not) http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/582/dragon-priestess?page=3 and others 5) Grahl (Menghiskhan) http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/573/custom-creatures-wip?page=2 6) Draugr Retexture http://atmora-calling.freeforums.net/thread/489/forgotten-atmoran-hero-draugr-retexture (but prioritize 1) )

  25. There will be new VA line records in the future, but first, the writing for the newly added characters and Quests needs to be finished. If we add the "Giants Expansion" we will also add previously sorted and prepared music tracks. We also have some special permissions for music.
