  1. Version 1.0.0

    148 downloads

In here is a collection of plants, rocks and a few statues. It is a mixture of items I made and from online resources. Almost all the plants and their textures I made, myself. For convenience items that came from online resources are in folders labelled as being from online resources. Included in the read me is the list and links to the sites of the online resources so you can check out the licensing, when I downloaded the resources they all said royalty free. While I can easily make plants as static items I am unsure how to animate them so feel free to try and animate them if you know how. There are also a few textures with no meshes for those who are up to the challenge of modelling the plants. Some of the plants I made include: cycads carnivorous plants (pitcher, sundew and bladderwort) some of the giant lily pads from the Amazon rainforest the prehistoric plant Tempskya a creeping juniper (a low growing species of the juniper plant) some tree ferns and some ferns (textures I made, meshes are from hoddmineer, just edited the UV) Some of the mesh-less textures include for boabob trees, tulip trees, hydrangea bush and a few more I also made a serpent statue which has UVs but has no textures, feel free to texture it
  2. Project ROCK

Hey guys! I decided to start a project! And I invite all ambitious modellers, especially those using sculpting softwares. The thing that bothers me the most when watching Bruma trailers and Cyrodiil screenshots are the rocks! I never liked Skyrim's rocks. They just don't have any realistic shapes. Neither are they aesthetic nor have they any recognition value. Well, not in a good way. Cyrodiil with Skyim rocks looks... like Skyrim. That miiiight be okay for Bruma, since it is at the Skyrim borders. But we want to give the rest of Cyrodiil a really unique look, so we really should get something new, something better than that. So, here's the plan, dear fellows! ... Let's sculpt some awesome rocks! Yeah. Everyone is allowed to post some awesome rock-photos as well. We need references. Awesome references. 6. Now normally I wouldn't say we need a thread for silly ol' rocks. But The Shivering Isles definitely has unique rock formations that are almost essential to it's appearance. You can't walk around Mania for 5 minutes without seeing them. I've found that there really isn't any rocks within the vanilla Skyrim that can match or immitate these at all, so this is a necessity for me when doing the landscape for the map. A modders resource simply won't do for this, we actually need someone to make these. So I'll post some screenshots below, and some concept art for ideas. Remember, this is Sheogorath's realm, and these rocks don't form like normal ones, so go nuts. but stay within the general look of the rocks. http://th06.deviantart.net/fs70/200H/i/2010/111/4/a/Shivering_Isles_by_Vicki73.jpg http://www.4gamer.net/review/rev_con/shiveringisles/img/02.jpg http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:SI-concept-DWild02.jpg http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:SI-concept-GDwellExt02.jpg Very round, they almost look like mushrooms in shape. And sometimes they stack on each other. I figure we need about 8- 10 at least. Due to them being everywhere, we don't want there to be too much repetition in appearance. 2-3 of the large figures with holes to walk through at the bottom. 2-3 smallish ones. at least 2 that can be placed on the side of the formations, like an attatchment piece. and just a couple random big/medium ones.
  7. I recently found out that you can pretty much retexture any static in the CK by simply turning the original diffuse and normal .dds in a textureset and then apply the desired textures when altering the base models in CK. This is extremely useful if you want the basic landscape assets (such as rocks, rockcliffs, mountains, rockslabs, rockshelfs, rockpiles, rocktundralands, creeks, ponds, streams and dirtcliffs), all available in the landscape textures you're using for your modded region. This takes creating new separate mesh models with Nifscope (and uploading them to Git) totally out of the equation, because you can just use the vanilla .nif with alternate textures in the CK. Maybe this is not new to some (or most) of you but I just found it extremely fast and useful and wanted to share it just in case. I created some assets that weren't available in BSAssets for my region and much faster than the previous method I was using (with nifscope). Also, I guess this probably saves a lot more disk space in terms of not needing any extra .nif files, although I'm not sure about this (perhaps this method bloats up your plugin size equally/more). Here's a small tutorial of how to do it: 1. First make sure you have all the texturesets you need. In this case I created one new textureset based on one of the BSHammerfell mountainslabs, but you can also easily use many of the land textures contained within BSAssets. You can create these by just opening a vanilla one and linking the diffuse and normal .dds files. 2. Open a static you want to retexture. I highly recommend creating all of the important commonly used vanilla assets so you have entirely new landscaping set (rocks, rockcliffs, mountains, rocktrims, rockshelfs, rockpiles, rocktundralands, creeks, ponds, streams and dirtcliffs). In this example I retextured a rocktundraland for the beach I'm working on. Open the base model and click edit next to the model. 3. Below alternate textures all the possible features of this particular model are given, you can retex them all, but you should experiment which you should leave alone and which part of the model you want in which texture. Just click on them and select new. 4. Use the filter to find your textureset, for this model I used one of the BSAssets land sand textures and the BSHammerfell mountainslab textures 5. Rename it into something convenient and click yes to create a new form: 6. And we have a rextured beach model in our plugin
  8. Hi! I am a geologist and would love to help out any modding projects that want to make their landscapes and geology as realistic as possible. I can help with: placement of different rock types (taking into account plate tectonics and the history of the area), properties of the rocks how they should look placement and look of structural features such as coastlines, mountains and any other kind of rock feature erosion patterns (from wind, water or ice) ecologies that might occur associated with the landscape and the rocks that plants will grow on ore types, properties and placement I can help make landscapes more immersive through ensuring that the geology of the areas make sense (taking into account the lore too) and that it looks realistic. I hope this sort of stuff will be useful, and would be happy to help out anyone with any questions. Jane
  9. New resources released

As part of the development of Hoddminir we are making new plants and other models. They are very useful for us and I think that others will have just as much use of them as well. And like they say, sharing is caring I have two new releases to share with you today. First of are Water plants, these include both re-textures grass models and novel water lily models. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29486 The other resource are 13 new rock models made by Ztree, all in 13 different texture variants. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/29490 There are several old releases of more re-textures grass models of plants and grass as well as landscape textures. Landscape textures: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19066 Grasses: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24735 Spring flowers I: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14567 Spring Flowers II: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/28113 Hope you find good uses of these resources for your mods too :)
